Grease, dirt and other substances can become adhered to the surface of flagstone that is a part of your outdoor landscape. To remove these materials without harming the flagstone, you can try some of these techniques.

Three Easy Techniques for Cleaning Flagstones in Your Las Vegas Yard

When you have a backyard with flagstones in Las Vegas, you might feel frustrated when unsightly stains, marks or dirt appears on the surface of the stones. Instead of feeling annoyed each time you visit your outdoor landscape, you can clean the stones using these specific and simple techniques that will not cause any harm to their structure or appearance.

Diluted Muriatic Acid

Mix one part of muriatic acid into 10 parts of water. Pour the solution over the discolored flagstone. Use a soft bristled brush to gently scrub the stones. Thoroughly rinse the acid solution off the stones. It is best to do this on a warm day when the sunshine will dry the stones’ surface in a rapid manner. The acid dissolves discolorations and stains but rapid rinsing is needed in order to avoid damage to the stones.

Bleach Solution

A diluted bleach solution is another way that you can get rid of stains and grime on your flagstones. Mix one part bleach to 10 parts water and use a sponge to gently scrub the surface of the stones. You may need to do several rinses if the surface of the flagstone patio or walkway was especially dirty. Allow the area to dry for 24 hours before walking on it, so that the pores of the stones can release any leftover moisture.

Boiling Water

Areas of your flagstone that are especially grimy may benefit from the application of boiling water. Carefully carry the water to the affected area of flagstone and pour it over the stones. Use a soft plastic scrubbing brush to loosen up the dirt. Rinse the stones with warm water to wash the dirt away. Allow the flagstones to dry in the sun or for 24 hours in cloudy weather conditions.
